Whats is Beauty?
How can beauty be defined? This is a question that, from the perspective of the history of the female world, is not easy to answer. If we take a journey back in time with our imagination, we can see that the ideal type of woman has evolved over the centuries and has been, and still is, different across various continents. In Antiquity, a robust silhouette was preferred; in the Middle Ages, the trend was a tall and slender figure, while in the Renaissance, the hourglass shape emerged. The “plump” woman was characteristic of the 17th century; during the reign of Louis XV of France, the ideal figure became slender again, only to change four or five more times before reaching, in our era — provisionally, no doubt — a certain equilibrium.
The Venuses of ancient civilizations, like the one from Savignano, had a strong and opulent bust, whereas in Egypt, small busts were the ideal. In Black Africa, drooping and elongated breasts are admired, while in the Far East, small breasts are preferred. And in Spain, the United States, Mexico, Argentina, France, and so on, what woman hasn’t dreamed of having a figure like that of some famous actress?
However, it is not necessary to turn to history or geography to define beauty, as it varies according to individual taste, and it is practically impossible to find two people, even from the same country, with identical opinions about the ideal of female…
